FEES
As a private patient you will receive an account from me for the anaesthetic procedure.
This is calculated using two components:
- a basic fee for the degree of difficulty with the procedure; and
- an amount for the time that the procedure takes.
For the most part, this structure is determined by the Health Insurance Commission.
There will also be a fee for other procedures performed around the time of the anaesthetic such as nerve blocks, special monitoring and so on.
You will need to pay the gap between the fee for my services and the amount rebated by Medicare and the health funds.
A quotation for the gap can be obtained by ringing Probills Australia (PBA) on 1800673118. PBA is the service company for managing my accounts. You will need to tell the staff at PBA, the name of your surgeon, the expected procedure and the time that the procedure is likely to take. Based on this information an approximate fee will be given to you.
I offer a discount for prompt payment of your fees.
The health fund and Medicare rebate will usually be less than half of the total fee. This is because rebates for anaesthesia have not kept pace with inflation and were never set at an appropriate level.
If you have any financial difficulties please let PBA know.
